You may be sick and tired of hearing about Valentine’s Day already. You may be one of those people who throw Anti-Valentine’s Day parties. And if you are, feel free to invite me to your party. I will bring lots of wine, tissues, and maybe even some cheeseburgers. Nothing says anti-Valentine’s Day like cheeseburgers. If you’re lucky I’ll bring over my man-shaped punching bag so you can take out your aggression over being single on something safe.
Although I am at a stage in my life where I actually enjoy Valentine’s Day, I spent plenty of them alone, hating the world. And men. Okay just men. I still loved other things about the world. Like the wine I drank to get over the men.
You also may not be Anti-Valentine’s Day; you may be like the current me. Give me any excuse to decorate and it’s already a party in my book. So if you’re more like the new me than the old me, here’s a very simple DIY project. Cheap too. What’s better than simple and cheap?
All you need for this project is some sort of thread/yarn/ribbon and felt hearts. I bought the red yarn in the Target Dollar Spot, but you could easily use something you have in your craft hoard. (I know I am not the only craft hoarder out there: I’ve seen that episode of Hoarders thank you very much). Michael’s has the box of hearts for $5, with 40% (no coupon required) this week. Just hot glue each heart onto the string and you’re done. You can have this completed in the time it would take you to pour a glass of wine while holding back your tears that you’re alone on this Hallmark holiday.
