This is a fairly easy, but very tedious craft. When I started putting together a bee-themed baby shower, I thought this was a really cute backdrop idea for the snack table (it is also very cheap, which I love!). Beware: This project is not for the perfectionists! It can be very difficult to get them the exact same shape, with the exact same spacing. I had to shelf my own craziness for this one.

You will need:

• One large piece of foam board
  • This can be any size you’d like, or you can use cardstock as well
• As many old magazines as you can find!
• Scissors
• Glue
• Hexagon Tracer

First things first. Decide how large you want your hexagon, and print it to use as a tracer. You can easily use Google to find a hexagon. Then you’ll need to just start looking through old magazines for the color of  your choice. All mine fell into the yellow tones, but you can choose any color, or combination of colors. The more unique pictures you can find, the more unique your board will be.

After you have what you think is enough (trust me, it is not enough), start tracing and cutting out your hexagons. My board used over 150 full hexagons, as well as many “sides/ends” for the fillers.

Start placing your cut-outs on the board, and glue as you go! One word of advice: Don’t place too many without gluing, because one small breeze blows them all over the place (think pets…kids…etc.). It will take a while…a few hours at least…but you’ll have a really cool final project!
