Summer Sweet Tea Recipe

Summer Sweet Tea // Adult Sweet Tea Recipe

Summertime calls for two things. A pool (or a beach, preferably) and a drink. You score extra points for a drink that is multi-colored with an umbrella. Those are special drinks. Drinks that I just don’t have the patience to even attempt to create. So when you’re feeling really ambitious, feel free to make me one of those fabulous drinks. Just don’t forget the umbrella. Or one of these beautiful glass straws from Glass Dharma that I won from Le Zoe Musings. I will be careful and have only one drink if I’m using a glass straw. I don’t trust myself with pretty things.

Because some of us have to work, we can’t sit by the pool all day with a drink in one hand and a book in the other. That’s reserved specifically for Saturdays and Sundays for us. Or me. What am I going to do if we ever decide to stop living our life kid-free? I guess I’ll replace the book with a baby. (What, did you think I was getting rid of the drink?)

My favorite summertime cocktail is definitely the adult version of Sweet Tea. It also happens to be the “drink” of my relationship with my husband. I mean, it was served at our wedding as our signature cocktail, doesn’t that make it our drink?

When you order an adult sweet tea at a bar or restaurant, you’re typically going to end up with sweet tea vodka mixed with lemonade. While this is still amazing, it can get a little too sugary and sweet. One or two and you’re bound to be puckering your lips. And not just for the hottie at the bar.

Because we drink these quite often (okay we’ve cut back, only one or two a week), we have come up with our better own way to make them.

You’ll Need:

Arnold Palmer mix

Seagram’s Sweet Tea Vodka (or other brand)

Lemon

Water

If you are using a typical 8 oz drinking glass, use one shot (1.5 oz) of vodka. Then you’ll nearly fill the glass with Arnold Palmer mix (5.5 oz), leaving about an inch empty at the top. Top with about an ounce of water and squeeze in a fresh lemon slice. You’re ready for a refreshing cocktail! You can thank me when you’re laying by the pool with your drink in hand.

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.

I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I’m here to tell you this: you do not need a whole new wardrobe for vacation.

Social media makes it feel like every trip requires new outfits, a new summer closet, a new date-night dress…but honestly? It doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet you already have plenty of great options hanging in your closet. And instead of spending a bunch of money on clothes you’ll probably only wear once, maybe it’s enough to just wear what you already love.
One day, instead of hearing little feet running th One day, instead of hearing little feet running through the house all day, I’ll be leaving voicemails hoping they call me back when they have time.

The sticky fingerprints will wash away, the car seats will come out, bedtime routines will end, and the house that once felt so loud will get quieter little by little.

It’s strange how the things that exhaust you in the moment become the very things you ache for later. 🤍

Don’t get me wrong, if it were in the budget you better believe it’s worth it. I am not advocating for giving them LESS, I’m just advocating for staying within your families budget. And maybe if we see more of these easy little inexpensive gifts, we can make it more acceptable to gift within budget. Because that’s what it’s all about.

What’s that saying? It’s the thought that counts.
I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that Mother’s Day is only for moms with small children. I couldn’t disagree more. To me, Mother’s Day is not just about me. It’s about the women who helped shape me, as a mother, a woman, a friend. It’s about my friends who help me be a better mother, even if they don’t have little kids themselves. It’s about my own mother, who is the biggest inspiration for me, to be a better mother myself. It’s about the many generations before me that allowed me to be a mother at all. It’s about every woman in my life that loves me and my girls as if they’re their own. That’s who I’ll be celebrating this Mother’s Day.

Just being met where you are. That kind of friendship changes you.

I’m not interested in raising a child who expects constant entertainment or new toys. I want to raise one who knows how to create their own magic.
