Disneyland Gift Bags for Grown Ups

Gift Bag Ideas for Adults at Disneyland

You didn’t think I went all the way to Disneyland (pockets stuffed with magic stones for little kids) and nothing for my husband, did you? I mean, it was our anniversary and all. And I never go overboard with crafty projects for my husband. He probably doesn’t even know if I love him or not. Oh gosh. I am clearly failing at this thing called marriage. So much for a two year anniversary. Hopefully I make it until my third.

So now onto stating the obvious: clearly I go overboard sometimes. Or a lot. Okay always. My husband had a conference in Anaheim the week leading up to our trip so I figured I should make him a little gift bag for each day he was gone. Just so he didn’t forget how much he loved me. That’s what all wives do right? Since he had to share a hotel room with a co-worker, I’m sure he really enjoyed opening them up each day.

I started with the obvious: A small bottle of gin, a bottle of tonic, and a Disney tumbler. I mean, what’s more magical than drinking your favorite cocktail out of a Disney cup? Yeah that’s right. Nothing.

Two different days were boxes of his favorite candy. I searched high and low for any candy that was Disney themed, but found nothing. Oh the joys of shopping last minute. Instead I just turned his favorites into “Disney” candy by adding little mouse heads.

On one of the box candy days, I added a Red Bull. The accompanying note said that since all the kids at Disneyland would be all hyped up on sugar, he should be too.

Glow Sticks. Now, I know if you have children this is a must purchase before your trip. Seriously, they are 8 for a dollar at the Dollar Tree or $8 each at Disneyland. Buy them beforehand. And for adults? Yes ma’am. We had just as much fun with them as the kids did. And I had so many extra that I handed them out to the other kids in line.

Disney Journal love note. I bought a Disney journal at the Dollar Tree and wrote him a love note throughout it. Don’t worry, I only put a few words on each page. I don’t have that much to say to him, since we do live together and all.

Disney puzzle with a twist. I took the kids puzzle out of the box, put it together, flipped it over, and wrote a short little note about how excited I was to go to the park with him. Then put it back in the box, seal it up, and make him struggle to put it back together. Or is that just my husband? Seriously. It was a 24 piece puzzle! I thought it was going to be easy!

Lastly (and this was a stretch), I bought a Disney magic towel. You know those things you see at the Dollar Tree while wondering who would ever buy them? Yeah. Those. I bought one. I added a little note about how he was obviously crying without me by his side, so this could dry his eyes. Yeah that’s right. I’m clever like that.

Disneyland love notesAfter I picked out all the gifts, packed them in small gift bags, I needed to write the accompanied note. I cut out Mickey Mouse heads in black cardstock, then “shorts” out of Disney themed paper. I hand sewed the shorts onto the head outline, and hot glued buttons on the shorts. And because everyone knows Mickey wouldn’t be the same without Minnie too, I made a few Minnie heads by adding bows. Then I wrote little notes for each head, and tied them to each gift bag.

Overall, I think it was a success. Especially because when he begged me for Disneyland souvenirs at the park that night, I was able to tell him he already had enough. And you thought I had it easy without children.

Oh my gosh no way! None of my projects are perfect, I just try to take the photo from the best angle. 🙂 – but really. It’s too hard to be a perfectionist in crafting. My husband appreciates it just the same! 🙂

A core memory I didn’t know I’d be making… This w A core memory I didn’t know I’d be making…

This weekend at church, my daughter got to light the candles for the first time. At the end of the service, when she went up on her own to extinguish them, proud tears dropped from my eyes. And as I looked around at others, I noticed I wasn’t the only one.

If you had asked me in my early to mid twenties, I wouldn’t have imagined how much this community, this faith, and these little traditions would come to mean to our family. There was a season of my life, long before I became a mom, where I drifted away from actively going to church. Now, getting to watch my girls grow up surrounded by faith, love, and a church family who knows them and celebrates them feels like such a gift.
Hot take: We’ve convinced ourselves kids need bigg Hot take: We’ve convinced ourselves kids need bigger backyards, when what they really need is neighborhood kids.

I used to think about more square footage, more land, more privacy. Now? I’d rather my girls have friends they can run to than an acre they have to play on alone.

A bigger house isn’t always a better childhood. For us, built-in community has been worth more than an extra bedroom ever could be.

I know this won’t be everyone’s opinion, but I think for elementary-aged kids, having friends next door is more valuable than having a huge yard. Anyone else change their mind about what “dream home” actually means?

I’ll die on this hill: kids birthday parties SHOUL I’ll die on this hill: kids birthday parties SHOULD feel magical.

Before anyone comes at me, I’m not talking about spending thousands of dollars. I’m talking about picking a theme, hanging the decorations, baking the cake (or buying it and decorating at home), planning the games, and making your kid feel like the most important person in the world for one day.

That’s the stuff they’ll remember.

You don’t need a huge budget to make childhood feel special. Agree or disagree?
Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣 Listen. Social me Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣

Listen. Social media tends to make traveling with children look glamorous, and the truth is, it usually isn’t. Are some kids professional travelers? Of course. But reality is that there’s always pitfalls and unexpected turbulence that you just have to mentally prepare for before you travel. And in the end? I promise you, it’s worth all the hassle.

Why yes, I do. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.

I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I’m here to tell you this: you do not need a whole new wardrobe for vacation.

Social media makes it feel like every trip requires new outfits, a new summer closet, a new date-night dress…but honestly? It doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet you already have plenty of great options hanging in your closet. And instead of spending a bunch of money on clothes you’ll probably only wear once, maybe it’s enough to just wear what you already love.
One day, instead of hearing little feet running th One day, instead of hearing little feet running through the house all day, I’ll be leaving voicemails hoping they call me back when they have time.

The sticky fingerprints will wash away, the car seats will come out, bedtime routines will end, and the house that once felt so loud will get quieter little by little.

It’s strange how the things that exhaust you in the moment become the very things you ache for later. 🤍
