Oreo Cake Pop Success!

6.24.2014

Easy DIY Oreo Cookie Pops // Instructions // Rae of SparklesI may be a crafter, but I am not a baker. Sometimes I think I can change that so I give cupcakes or cookies a try, only to throw them all in the trash. I follow the directions to the T, I swear they’re out to get me. Don’t even get me started on brownies. Those little tricksters are the worst. My husband keeps asking about the brownie mix we have in the cupboard. If he wants them, he’s going to have to hire a new wife for the day, because this one just can’t cut it.

This flaw is why I always make crafts for birthdays and holidays. I just cannot make the desserts work. Hey, know what you’ve got and go with it. When I came across this recipe on Pinterest (Oreo Pops), I thought to myself, “Even you cannot ruin this.” Turns out, I was right for once! They were super easy to make, and they didn’t involve me throwing anything across the kitchen. My husband was quite pleased with the results, even if they weren’t brownies. Although the kitchen was kind of a mess afterwards, these Oreo Pops were definitely a success!Easy DIY Oreo Cookie Pops // Instructions // Rae of Sparkles

I started with the following ingredients:

~Oreo cookies (I used “Birthday Cake” flavor – Target)

~One bag  of Vanilla Candy Melts (Michaels, $2.99)

~One bag of Sucker Sticks (Michaels, $1.99)

~Colorful Sprinkles (Michaels, $2.99?)

I did run out of sprinkles, with just this one jar. It worked for me though, because I made some (about 8) without sprinkles for those that prefer plain pops. I still had enough with sprinkles (about 20) that it didn’t matter. If you’d like them all to have sprinkles, you would need two jars. I used the whole bag of chocolate, and just barely had enough.Easy DIY Oreo Cookie Pops // Instructions // Rae of SparklesThen the fun began. I separated all my cookies (broke about four). If they cracked only once I was able to still use them, but sometimes one half would crumble making them unusable. After separating all of them, I melted about ten chocolate pieces in my microwave (45 seconds), and used this small batch to adhere the sticks into the cookies. I didn’t need a “velata” warmer (didn’t even know what that was) that the original recipe calls for. The microwave worked perfect.

I stuck all the sticks into the cookies, pressed the tops down firmly, and let sit for a bit. After about ten minutes I put the remaining chips into the same bowl, and melted them in the microwave as well (I heated for one minute at a time so not to burn them). From here I covered each cookie completely (usually had to use the spoon as well), and then dipped each side in the sprinkles. I didn’t have a drying rack or parchment paper, so I held two at a time for a minute before putting them back on paper towels.  They didn’t stick at all to the towels so it worked great.Easy DIY Oreo Cookie Pops // Instructions // Rae of SparklesI didn’t have any fun way to serve my Oreo pops, so I put each one in its own little bag. I already had these at home, but you can get them at Michael’s as well, I believe about $3 a box. If I was having a party at home, I would have just put them all in a bowl. But with transporting them to work, I figured they may as well look a little more professional.Easy DIY Oreo Cookie Pops // Instructions // Rae of SparklesOverall, they turned out great and I even had someone place an order with me for more! I finally made a desirable dessert! Take that Martha Stewart! Maybe I’ll start selling these puppies on the street.

Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣 Listen. Social me Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣

Listen. Social media tends to make traveling with children look glamorous, and the truth is, it usually isn’t. Are some kids professional travelers? Of course. But reality is that there’s always pitfalls and unexpected turbulence that you just have to mentally prepare for before you travel. And in the end? I promise you, it’s worth all the hassle.

Why yes, I do. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.

I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I’m here to tell you this: you do not need a whole new wardrobe for vacation.

Social media makes it feel like every trip requires new outfits, a new summer closet, a new date-night dress…but honestly? It doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet you already have plenty of great options hanging in your closet. And instead of spending a bunch of money on clothes you’ll probably only wear once, maybe it’s enough to just wear what you already love.
One day, instead of hearing little feet running th One day, instead of hearing little feet running through the house all day, I’ll be leaving voicemails hoping they call me back when they have time.

The sticky fingerprints will wash away, the car seats will come out, bedtime routines will end, and the house that once felt so loud will get quieter little by little.

It’s strange how the things that exhaust you in the moment become the very things you ache for later. 🤍
When did it become expected to spend hundreds of d When did it become expected to spend hundreds of dollars on Teacher Appreciation gifts? Don’t get me wrong, if it were in the budget you better believe it’s worth it. I am not advocating for giving them LESS, I’m just advocating for staying within your families budget. And maybe if we see more of these easy little inexpensive gifts, we can make it more acceptable to gift within budget. Because that’s what it’s all about.

What’s that saying? It’s the thought that counts.
I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that Mother’s Day is only for moms with small children. I couldn’t disagree more. To me, Mother’s Day is not just about me. It’s about the women who helped shape me, as a mother, a woman, a friend. It’s about my friends who help me be a better mother, even if they don’t have little kids themselves. It’s about my own mother, who is the biggest inspiration for me, to be a better mother myself. It’s about the many generations before me that allowed me to be a mother at all. It’s about every woman in my life that loves me and my girls as if they’re their own. That’s who I’ll be celebrating this Mother’s Day.

What are your kids always finding for you?

Just being met where you are. That kind of friendship changes you.
