Dr. Pepper Thank You Gift

6.02.2016

Dr. Pepper Thank You Gift

For those of you that missed my post yesterday, let me catch you up to speed (and then I will forgive you for not reading my blog religiously):

About two months ago someone hacked into my blog and installed a crap-load of viruses. I guess I should take it as a compliment that someone thought my blog was important enough to infect, but I’m still getting over the fact that it was a huge pain in the ass. After being told it would cost an exorbitant amount of money (in relation to the zero dollars that this blog brings in) to keep it running, I decided to throw in the towel. That is, until I told my incredibly intelligent tech-savvy friend who said he could fix it for me. For FREE. Yeah, I was on board with that. I think I owe him a cheeseburger for his efforts.

Since I haven’t been able to get much blogging done lately, I’ve had to occupy myself with other, more important things. You know, things like eating cheeseburgers, getting a tan, and traveling the world. Losing my blog (or so I thought) was secretly forgotten while I was on my trip. I mean, who has time to worry about a measly little blog when they’re chilling on an overwater bungalow in French Polynesia? Or swimming with sharks in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean? Not me. I was especially busy worrying if one of the sharks was going to decide that I looked like shark bait.

While I’ve been pretty busy outside of work, my 8-5 hours are a little slow at the moment. However, I’ve had some serious help from a co-worker on a few very tedious projects. Seriously, without her help I probably wouldn’t have survived the day. So in honor of her, and her Dr. Pepper obsession, I made this little tag, tied it to some candy, and showered her with my appreciation. I’m sure she’d prefer a gift card or something, but isn’t it the thought that counts? (On a side note, I think I’m always using that excuse – it should be my life’s motto).

I wanted to share it with all of you, to say THANK YOU for supporting me through my unfortunate blogging mishap. I’ve had plenty of my blogging friends (and real-life ones too) reach out to me to say they were keeping their fingers crossed that I could get my blog back. Well, thanks to you (and my handy-dandy, technology geek of a friend), Rae of Sparkles is back in action.

Welcome back, Shauna! You were missed! I hope that the damage was limited only to your blog and not anything else. I recently had my debit card swiped (see what I did there?) and it was a pain in the buttocks to clear up what they had stolen. Anyway, I think that I’ll go and enjoy a cheeseburger, too!

Ohhhhhh Rob!!!!! Thank you so much for your note. And yes it was just on the blog, that is horrible about your debit card (and yes I saw what you did there), I hope they didn’t bank all your money (see what I did there?). I can’t wait to catch up on your blog!!! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully catch up but I’ll try!

It’s great to see you back in action! I was only thinking yesterday how I hadn’t seen a post in my inbox from your corner of the blogosphere for a while. This is a cute idea – and it IS the thought that counts, I’m sure she appreciated the gesture! Plus, YUM. xx

Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣 Listen. Social me Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣

Listen. Social media tends to make traveling with children look glamorous, and the truth is, it usually isn’t. Are some kids professional travelers? Of course. But reality is that there’s always pitfalls and unexpected turbulence that you just have to mentally prepare for before you travel. And in the end? I promise you, it’s worth all the hassle.

Why yes, I do. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.

I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I’m here to tell you this: you do not need a whole new wardrobe for vacation.

Social media makes it feel like every trip requires new outfits, a new summer closet, a new date-night dress…but honestly? It doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet you already have plenty of great options hanging in your closet. And instead of spending a bunch of money on clothes you’ll probably only wear once, maybe it’s enough to just wear what you already love.
One day, instead of hearing little feet running th One day, instead of hearing little feet running through the house all day, I’ll be leaving voicemails hoping they call me back when they have time.

The sticky fingerprints will wash away, the car seats will come out, bedtime routines will end, and the house that once felt so loud will get quieter little by little.

It’s strange how the things that exhaust you in the moment become the very things you ache for later. 🤍

Don’t get me wrong, if it were in the budget you better believe it’s worth it. I am not advocating for giving them LESS, I’m just advocating for staying within your families budget. And maybe if we see more of these easy little inexpensive gifts, we can make it more acceptable to gift within budget. Because that’s what it’s all about.

What’s that saying? It’s the thought that counts.
I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that Mother’s Day is only for moms with small children. I couldn’t disagree more. To me, Mother’s Day is not just about me. It’s about the women who helped shape me, as a mother, a woman, a friend. It’s about my friends who help me be a better mother, even if they don’t have little kids themselves. It’s about my own mother, who is the biggest inspiration for me, to be a better mother myself. It’s about the many generations before me that allowed me to be a mother at all. It’s about every woman in my life that loves me and my girls as if they’re their own. That’s who I’ll be celebrating this Mother’s Day.
