Orange You Glad I’m Back?

6.08.2016

Orange Gift Basket Perfect for a congratulations gift!Any way you slice it, you’re pretty amazing to me. Every one of you. Except my hacker of course. You, I despise. But for the rest of you, I intend on treating you with the utmost respect, the way a lady (and gentleman) deserves to be treated. You know, because I’m a lady. So before I wine and dine you, I might just show up to your door with a little gift basket to prove my admiration, because who wants flowers anyway? I’d show up with a bottle of wine too, but that’s being a little presumptuous wouldn’t you say?

Ingredients for an Orange Gift Basket - Perfect Congratulations Gift!So in the off chance that you have someone you’d like to show a little appreciation for, you should make them this orange themed gift basket. It can never hurt to spread the love. And if you really want to express your support, add in a bottle of wine or two. Or maybe a bottle of Fireball. Hey, that’s orange too!

Orange Gift Basket Ideas - Perfect Congratulations Gift

I’ve recently grown quite fond of Party City’s individually sold candy spot. It’s perfect for your color themed baskets, or if you just feel like indulging in a bunch of orange candy. Just don’t be exclusive. You should probably throw in a red or green piece so everyone feels included. We wouldn’t want anyone to be offended, now would we?

Orange Gift Basket Ideas

Once you’ve picked up all of your orange candy and basket fillers, grab an orange basket from the dollar store and fill it with orange tissue paper. Pack everything inside, add the label tag, and make yourself a little card if you want to go the extra mile (which you should do). Everyone likes to read a card detailing their amazing-ness. Trust me. If you want to send me one anytime, let me know. I’d never turn down a supportive vibe.

Orange Gift Basket Ideas - Perfect Congratulations Gift

Personally, I think this gift basket is perfect for just about anyone. But I made mine for someone I work with who won a very important award. And not an award where everyone else got a participation ribbon either. A real-life, one person wins, award. So she clearly deserved my support. Can I get myself a participation ribbon for making this basket? Anyone?

If you know someone you’d like to make this orange basket for, here’s the file to print for the label/card. You can size it to fit whatever basket you choose. Here’s a file to the individual orange, if you’d like to add it to your orange candies!

This is such a great idea! I recently heard about a similar idea but with only using yellow called : “a basket of sunshine.” So cute and happy I’m sure this would brighten anyone’s day ! 🙂

to slime... but here we are.

The difference? This isn’t just a container of slime
to squish around. The Slime Prank Lab by @CrunchLabs
turns it into an activity. We spent the afternoon mixing the slime, experimenting with different textures, and (of course) testing out the ridiculously funny booger and fart pranks. 🤣

My girls were completely entertained, and I loved watching them create, experiment, and laugh together. It feels like pure fun for the kids, but there’s actually some pretty cool science and engineering behind it all, plus Mark Rober walks you through even more with the QR code inside the kit.

Who in your family would be the first prank target?

A core memory I didn’t know I’d be making… This w A core memory I didn’t know I’d be making…

This weekend at church, my daughter got to light the candles for the first time. At the end of the service, when she went up on her own to extinguish them, proud tears dropped from my eyes. And as I looked around at others, I noticed I wasn’t the only one.

If you had asked me in my early to mid twenties, I wouldn’t have imagined how much this community, this faith, and these little traditions would come to mean to our family. There was a season of my life, long before I became a mom, where I drifted away from actively going to church. Now, getting to watch my girls grow up surrounded by faith, love, and a church family who knows them and celebrates them feels like such a gift.
Hot take: We’ve convinced ourselves kids need bigg Hot take: We’ve convinced ourselves kids need bigger backyards, when what they really need is neighborhood kids.

I used to think about more square footage, more land, more privacy. Now? I’d rather my girls have friends they can run to than an acre they have to play on alone.

A bigger house isn’t always a better childhood. For us, built-in community has been worth more than an extra bedroom ever could be.

I know this won’t be everyone’s opinion, but I think for elementary-aged kids, having friends next door is more valuable than having a huge yard. Anyone else change their mind about what “dream home” actually means?

I’ll die on this hill: kids birthday parties SHOUL I’ll die on this hill: kids birthday parties SHOULD feel magical.

Before anyone comes at me, I’m not talking about spending thousands of dollars. I’m talking about picking a theme, hanging the decorations, baking the cake (or buying it and decorating at home), planning the games, and making your kid feel like the most important person in the world for one day.

That’s the stuff they’ll remember.

You don’t need a huge budget to make childhood feel special. Agree or disagree?
Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣 Listen. Social me Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣

Listen. Social media tends to make traveling with children look glamorous, and the truth is, it usually isn’t. Are some kids professional travelers? Of course. But reality is that there’s always pitfalls and unexpected turbulence that you just have to mentally prepare for before you travel. And in the end? I promise you, it’s worth all the hassle.

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.
